The movies are rated in 5 categories (gore, scariness, creepiness, plot, and effects) on a scale of 1 to 5.

  • Gore - how much detail is shown during blood shedding scenes and how squeamish it makes me (not easily done except for anything involving fingernails)

  • Scariness - how frightening the movie is or how often I actually jump from being scared during the movie

  • Creepiness - how uneasy I feel during the movie; a movie/scene may not be scary or make me jump but it could be creepy and make me feel unpleasant, tense, or weird.

  • Plot - how well the overall point of the movie is; there will be lower scores for being unoriginal or predictable and higher scores for plot twists. I am also partial to movies where the bad guy wins.

  • Effects - how realistic the gory scenes look to me, but I am not an expert in CGI.
