Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.--IMDB
I really did enjoy watching this movie. It is riddled with flaws, but I just took it for what it was and enjoyed the ride. I will start with the flaws. I was left with so many unanswered questions and felt like so much more needed to be explained at the end. I really want to list them all, but there would be so many spoilers. But message me if you want to discuss them after you see it. There were so many dumb character moves. I almost wanted to yell at the screen because I got so annoyed a couple of times. But I attributed some of them to the writers trying to maintain some classic horror elements. And I am not sure I liked how random some of the murders were. They tried to explain it away, but it was still really random compared to the classic Michael Myers who had a mission and mostly killed the people who got in his way. But because of this randomness, the kill count ended up being way higher than I expected, which I was pleased with. They didn't show a lot of in action kills, but they showed enough of them and traditionally the Halloween movies aren't a gore show, so I can live with that. Everything else about the movie, I loved. I loved how they used the traditional Halloween franchise music, the effective intense moments, and how they had just enough comedic relief throughout the movie. I also liked how they threw in a bit of a reality check of how Michael Myers just stabbing five people all those years ago isn't a big deal relatively speaking. It was nice that we got a chance to see at least a small interaction from most of the victims instead of them just getting murdered. It made me at least like their characters more. There was also a small unexpected part in the middle that really caught me off guard. I am a sucker for those. Along with all of the Easter eggs spread throughout the movie from the other Halloween movies. I really think true fans of the franchise will appreciate this movie more than others. It was definitely made with them in mind. Just don't watch this movie expecting more than what you know most of the other Halloween movies to be, a traditional slasher, and you will love it too.
