This movie isn't overly gory. There are a couple of kills that were quite graphic, but since there is a war going on, a lot of the kills are a result of shootings.

There is a kid eating monster that is a pretty scary sight.

I enjoy this movie every time I watch it. It is a fairy time of sorts, but a very dark one. There is a story within the main story and both are intriguing and not very predictable. They really make you sympathize with the main character and root for her. The trials she has to overcome in both stories keep you engaged and wanting more. And the bitter-sweet ending is like the icing on the cake. I am sure I am not doing this movie justice, mainly because I do not want to give away the best parts, which is almost the whole movie. But know this movie was really good and certainly worth a watch.

The effects were very well done considering there were a couple of fantasy worlds involved.
