This remake is set in the same time period as the original. It takes a very different approach from the original in that more details are initially given and there is a more supernatural or "witchy" feel throughout the movie. I left the movie with mixed feelings and could hear that others felt the same way. Even though more details were given, I was still left a little confused or unfulfilled as far as a full explanation. There is a really slow build up to the main point. I almost fell asleep twice watching it. About the half the movie is subtitled and there is more of a focus on the dancing, but I understand why the dancing was given more attention. The kills were confusing, so my count may not be accurate. There were some people who went through stuff that should have killed them, but they appeared to still be alive. There are some scary and creepy parts towards the end. And there was a twist at the end that I appreciated and enjoyed. It made the slow build up at least worth it. There was a side story that I felt could have been omitted though. The acting all around was great though. Ultimately, this remake was better than the original, but if you did not like the original, you probably will not like this version.
